New Seasons of tastes at The House of J.C. Le Roux
South Africa’s leading house of sparkling wine, The House of J.C. Le Roux, has re-opened its restaurant in the picturesque Devon Valley outside Stellenbosch with the refreshing name of Seasons and a new accomplished chef at the helm.
Executive Chef Markus Schwemberger and his team from the neighbouring Devon Valley Hotel have taken over the management of Seasons at J.C. Le Roux and offer stylish yet uncomplicated breakfasts and lunches with the emphasis on simplicity, goodness and above all, taste. With his classic yet unpretentious style and an inevitable European influence, Austrian-born Markus relishes in creating chic country fare that draws on fresh, seasonal ingredients with clean, contemporary tastes and bold flavours.
Oysters and bubbly are perfect taste partners and accordingly take pride of place on the new Seasons lunch menu. Served fresh daily from the oyster tank, West Coast oysters can be enjoyed either in the restaurant or the trendy new Oyster Bar. There are three delicious options to choose from: Oysters on ice with lemon and Tabasco for the purist; and oysters with prosciutto & balsamic vinegar or with caramelised ginger, shallots & sesame seeds for the more adventurous.
The lunch menu varies in portion sizes from smaller dishes for the not so hungry such as prawn & lime laksa or the mezze platter, to more substantial options such as chicken & prosciutto or kingklip with basil pesto & potato rösti. End your meal with a flavourful board of farmhouse cheeses, scrumptious cakes from the decadent dessert table or let the party animal in you be tempted by a fun-loving J.C. Le Roux cocktail.
The breakfast menu offers the ultimate in indulgence for when you want to start your day with a glass of bubbly. From potato rösti to salmon carpaccio, truffle scented scrambled eggs and Benedict-style eggs served with crispy fried prosciutto, breakfast at Seasons is everything but ordinary! The Seasons menu also has delicious healthy options to choose from for breakfast and lunch.
The House of J.C. Le Roux is renowned for its passion and craftsmanship in making fine Méthode Cap Classique and sparkling wines to suit every palate. Visit the cellar for a tour and tasting and enjoy its modish new interior. For a truly heavenly indulgence, try the new nougat and bubby tasting.
The House of J.C. Roux is available for private functions and weddings either in the vibrant main tasting area with its colourful, contemporary feel, or the restaurant and terrace upstairs with spectacular views over Devon Valley and the Stellenbosch mountains beyond. The adjacent auditorium lends itself ideally to small conferences.
